General Info
The CT Marlin Swim Team is a casual seasonal team for kids in the 4 to 18 year old age group (age as of June 1st of the season year) that typically runs from early-April to mid-July. For the first portion of the season, practice is typically 4 days/week after school plus Saturday mornings (5 days/week total). Once school gets out for the summer practice shifts to weekday mornings 5 days/week and no weekends. The more you practice the more you will improve so please attend as many practices as possible. That said, we understand that the full schedule may not be possible for all families.
To join the 6 and under age group children should be able to swim 15 yards without assistance. To join the 8 and under age group children should be able to swim 25 yards without assistance. Stroke style is not important for these younger age groups. Older kids should be able to swim one of the team strokes (free, back, breast, fly) for 50 yards without assistance.
There are typically 8 to 10 dual-meets (late-May through June), 1 invitational (early June), and 1 to 2 days of Championships (early-to-mid-July). Swimmers are expected to attend most meets and are required to attend at least 3 meets in order to qualify for Championships. Championships are very important to the team. By joining the CT Marlins you are agreeing to do what you can to attend Championships.
